Baltimore-based Auctioneer Alex Cooper will host a one-day auction on Saturday, April 9th, featuring an expansive collection of art, fine rugs, period, mid-century modern, quality reproduction and period furniture, and decorative arts.
The auction features the sale of three NFT(non-fungible token) works of art and marks the first time that NFTs have been auctioned regionally. Alex Cooper is pleased to announce its collaboration with L&S Digital Art based in Richmond, Virginia, in presenting these works.

“Serenity Waves,” NFT
The collaboration allows Alex Cooper to bring the world of NFTs to the local and global auction market through its auction platforms and international customer base. The auction presents two NFTs from Baltimore-based artist, Liza Hathaway Matthews, “Moving Abstract Serenity Waves” and “Moving Abstract Serenity Botanicals.” Liza is a successful artist with national partnerships with Anthropologie, Cotton & Quill and Lema J. Jewelry. The third piece is a work by Richmond-based artist, Hugh Antrim, entitled, “Moving Marlin 3.” Antrim, a long-time graphic designer who loves the outdoors and fishing, blends his interests in this digital art collection.
“I have been looking at ways to bring NFTs to market at Alex Cooper,” said Kathleen Hamill, Director of Modern and Contemporary Art at Alex Cooper. “I am very excited about this collaboration and these three works of various palettes and subjects, all with approachable price points to allow our buyers an entry into collecting NFTs.”

Alex Cooper, through its partnership with L&S Digital, will be providing educational and informational content on both its social media and direct emails to increase understanding of the NFT. Auction bidders may pay in regular currency but will need to set up a wallet to transfer the NFT once the purchase is complete.
The Auction will begin at 10:00 am EST on Saturday, April 9th. The auction will take place at Alex Cooper Auctioneers, located at 908 York Road in Towson, Maryland.
