It’s the season to redecorate! Typically, during spring, we find ourselves refreshing the look and feel of our homes – clearing out ‘old’, unused things and making space for wonderful new items and pieces.

And if you’re looking for something fresh and unique at a great price, auction is a fantastic place to find all this – and much more.

Auctions are a treasure trove

On Tuesday, May 17 and Wednesday, May 18, 2022, Stockport-based auction house Maxwells is hosting its next monthly collective antiques auction.

Taking place at Maxwells’ Levens Road salesroom, the auction will see a huge range of products up for grabs, showcasing over 1,000 lots.

Not to mention, the incredible selection of jewellery and silver on offer – for anyone looking to buy a gift for a loved one, or even a treat for yourself.

But that’s not all. As well as miniature vehicles, there’s a very real S-type Jaguar also on sale.

A fully illustrated product catalogue is now available to view on Maxwells’ website. Have a browse, there’s truly something for everyone.

How does the auction work?

Limited personal viewing and attendance at the auction is still in force, and the auction house also kindly requests that any visitors on-site wear face coverings.

Viewing will be available just before the auction starts each day, from 10am to 12pm on May 17, and 9am to 10am on May 18, 2022.

If you wish to look at any particular section closely and are a regular buyer, contact Maxwells directly by phone.

Or, if you’re completely new to the auction scene and aren’t sure what’s involved, don’t worry as the team will be pleased to help and offer guidance.

Maxwells is also continuing to sell all items online, to allow greater safety and convenience.

The online offering allows people to hop in and out of the live auction and set reminders for when certain lots are due to come up.

If you would like to bid on any item(s) but cannot attend the auction in person, then don’t worry as you can also bid live online* at and

The collection of any items purchased online continues to be by appointment only, outside the saleroom.

Support a ‘greener’ future

Buying at auction is recycling at its best. Solid wood furniture, for example, is so much more sustainable than buying new throw away flat pack.

Take inspiration from photos of upcycled and modernised furniture online – a quick sand down and a coat of chalk paint can be all it takes.
